Zebus Vampire - Saturday, June 4th, 2011 - 11:54 PM

A get to know each other thread. Been long time lurker, active poster for awhile now but I don't really know anybody here.

I'm Zebus (duh) your friendly neighborhood vampire (sort of), and an amateur parapsychologist of sorts. I enjoy studying ghosts, and the implications of paranormal activity in relation to the human mind. I'm also a Christfag (GASP!) but I'd say my personal beliefs might seem a bit different than the stereotype. Generally believe in most subjects under the 'paranormal' umbrella. Also an artist in my spare time. What about you?

No. 19042 - Cain Buhner Hunter - June 5th, 2011 - 12:23 AM

Cain here, been obsessed with the paranormal ever since the first poltergeist I experienced. Studied ghosts/parapsychology for the last 5 years in an attempt to explain what happened and only recently took a break to get into aliens and UFOs (SO happy I did). Also a Christian, although I hate the word... Pretty open minded to anything as long as it isn't completely insane.
Spare time involves occasionally writing instrumentals (primarily piano) and exploring uncharted local areas, looking for any signs of abnormality (which I have found, oddly enough). Also an avid D&D player.

No. 19048 - sacredcow - June 5th, 2011 - 1:13 AM

i'm sacredcow. i live in texas. i love history. all its forms. political, military, social, economic and all that good stuff. i have an irrational hatred of conspiracy theories, and a relatively rational hatred of nazis.
two things that make me very mad are fear mongers, and when people say that the world is getting progressively worse.
i've had a couple of low intensity and one alarming experience. i'm not particularly sensitive when it comes to energies/spirits/stuff like that. i just have an immense hunger for knowledge, and i'd like to think that i'm extremely open minded.
oh, i'm also young. so if i say childish things on here. it's because i'm ignorant and have not fully experienced life yet. that being said, i admire alot of the people on here. namely: zebus, blue, goet, luinbariel, prelucid, howard, cain, lycaon, and hermit(among others.) mostly because you're all extremely knowledgeable. sometimes i get a little disgusted with myself because i haven't the slightest clue what you guys are talking about.
i also like to believe that i have relatively advanced moralistic and political views, in regards to most people my age.
i believe that jesus and his teachings are wonderful, but that he was nothing more than a man. although he does exist on some level... just like everything else.
no job. too young. but in my spare time i play sid meier's civilization a colossal amount, practice the bass guitar, and philosophize. (sorry if i sounded pretentious during any of this :c )

No. 19063 - Luinbariel - June 6th, 2011 - 6:33 AM

Hi.

I'm Luinbariel, Luin for short I suppose.

I'm usually lurking around here at some point, although life gets a little busy around here unexpectedly. There's always some chore or errand to go out and do.

Like most of us here I've been interested in the paranormal in most forms since I was a kid. That interest has never wavered, although it does focus more on certain things as I get older. I'm usually interested primarily in energy work type stuff these days, although good ghost stories always get me reading as well.

I'm perhaps older than a few here at 26 (27 next month, ugh). That is slightly depressing, lol.

Surely sometimes I come off as cold, although I really don't mean to be. I like to think I'm quite the opposite, but I often type formally as a habit and I don't think there is room for much emotion in that.

I can also often be strongly opinionated, but I never mean to discount anyone else; I firmly believe that there are many ways things can be true, and pretty much never believe that I've got it right and someone else has it wrong. I prefer to think that I've got what I choose to believe, and everyone else has what they choose to believe, and that's more than enough, so long as we can all get along and not fight over it.

Not much else to say, I suppose. Finally got Reiki I yesterday! Woo!

No. 19065 - Lycaon - June 6th, 2011 - 7:45 AM

Hello all.

I'm Lycaon, and have been called Ly (pronounced as lie, by most) by many.

I'm usually on this site quite often, except when I'm at work, or otherwise occupied.

I'm 24 years old, I guess putting me the next closest to Luin in age.

Personal history wise, I guess I have had quite a few experiences as far as this goes. I have an older brother, who is or was quite interested in the occult, along with that came some claims about things.

For my own things that have happened, seeing a girl in my room one day kneeling by my bed in prayer, seeing a floating face also in my room, hearing a loud gong or church bell when falling asleep, as singular occurrences all stand out quite a bit.

As for how I became interested in Psi, I guess I could attribute that to a couple of weeks I spent at a camp while I was in school... There was a man who taught a workshop called Primitive Skills, his name was Bruce Carol.

He showed the group that took his class how to throw axes, walk silently (more akin to barefoot walking, which I do now more often than walk shod, if I can help it, with the use of Vibram Five Fingers) and he also showed the group how to influence things using nothing but your mind.

I guess that would take some explaining. He had a volunteer be blindfolded on a bench, and had them stand on it. He then had the group try to make a barrier on the bench someway down it. The volunteer then walked down the bench and more often than not paused hesitated or just plain almost fell off the bench when they reached the point that everyone was focusing on.

I guess that is some of the bigger things that have influenced my beliefs, and what I am into now.

I realized I forgot to add I have some psionic ability, can sense energies and read aura signatures up to some distance away. Very lmited precognition through dreams though it's mostly useless. Extensive martial arts training, can weaponize my energy if necessary, so also can give advice son said topics.

No. 19068 - Cain Buhner Hunter - June 6th, 2011 - 2:08 PM

/sanc/ has the most interesting people... I'm not really surprised though.

So does everyone here have some experience with psionics? A Shaolin "monk" instructed me in energy transference and biofeedback... Is that roughly the same thing or somewhat different? (I was eventually able to create a visible aura)

'psionics' are easy. Ever got a weird vibe about a person or place? Dreamed something and seen it later? You've already used it. Just need to learn to concentrate. The advice I always give everyone is just to watch more closely, you'll see it.

I'm echoless-laughter. I mostly lurk here but every now and again I post. For the most part I'm a complete skeptic, but I love a good mystery and the unknown intrigues me.
I live in VA, been here all my life. I guess I just get bored with normality so I come here for my dose of the abnormal :D
This also explains why I LOVE arg's
I've never had any... true paranormal experiences. I mean the only thing I can think of was when I saw a creature I'd never seen before. Was some scary shit man.
I try to keep an open mind about things but I'm pretty much rooted in my "if it happened there's an explanation" view. Just because we don't know why something happened doesn't mean we CAN'T know.

I've dabbled in magik, psionics and whatnot with little effect, I don't dismiss them, I just don't have the patience to yield results. so yeah, that's me.

well then in the spirit of all things creepy, here are my Silent Hill 2 LP's as of now. Will continue to add more later!

side note: probably shouldn't play these over computer speakers while small children/parents are around. I tend to be profane in my everyday speech.

another side note: as I am playing this game blind (blind means I haven't played it before) the first several episodes are somewhat on the boring side, due to me not knowing what to do. Be patient, it gets much more exciting later on.

No. 19115 - Hermit - June 8th, 2011 - 8:20 PM

I'm from the "vast north" of Canada. Around the Montral area. French is my first language, so please forgive any odd grammar/syntax.. I tend to write in franglais when not concentrating (English words, French syntax). I'm 26, no need to feel old Luin :-)

I lurk here a lot, usually dropping by every day or so, even if I don't always post.

My personal interest are energy work (absorption, deflection, and energy transfer), emphatic work and tarot. I always like the supernatural, mostly because it never scared me. I used to play hide and seek in the cemetery behind my parents's house when I was very little. I was quite sad when they recently fenced in the cemetery. It was one of the most quiet and peaceful places I've know. I've studied Tai Chi and various meditation types, but life has been too hectic (yes, I am aware of the irony) to leave me time enough to focus on these fields.

I'm also an avid pen and paper RPG player. And videogames player. And reader. It is a sad thing that work takes so many hours in a day.

No. 19144 - Goet Sorceror - June 11th, 2011 - 5:09 AM

I'm Goet, I'm a Game Design student from the UK, and I'm in my early twenties. As a kid, I was heavily into reading about ghosts, ancient egypt and the like, which eventually led the way into reading about the occult and magic before long.

I wouldn't say I "believe" most of the stuff we talk about here - my mantra is that I've never been in a situation where I needed to decide one way or another what I believe. I just discuss things or act on things that interest me as though they were real. Similarly, my approach on supernatural forums and the like is that there's no point trying to "prove" supernatural occurences through debate and arguing: it's a place to discuss things with likeminded folk, not an institution for scientific research. I figure suspending judgment and foregoing conclusion is the best way to discuss topics here: we're unlikely to ever be cited for scientific purposes, and we're very limited in what we can do other than exchange ideas, so that's what I'm here for.

I'm big into writing, urban exploration, game design(pen&paper games + videogames) and drawing. In terms of occult stuff, I'm into magic first and foremost - specifically postmodern magic with some chaos magic thrown in - Haitian Vodou, general paranormal occurences ("Hey guys this weird thing happened to me once...") and cryptids/dubious aliens (Flatwoods monster, Grinning Man and so on). I know little bits of information from a broad range of different occult fields (Gef the Mongoose, the Star Ruby, the Book of Enoch, Tzadikim Nistarim, Erlkoenig, Ellis/the Link Sigil, Lisa-Mawu, the numbering of Strength and Justice in the Tarot, the Fox sisters, the Comte de Saint Germain, VITRIOL, etc etc), so there's usually at least one active topic on the boards I can step into.

I have limited experience with psionics, though, just to put down the idea that everyone here is experienced with it.

No. 19179 - Zaruvza - June 14th, 2011 - 1:38 PM

Hey there guys.

I'm Zaruvza. I'm an 18 year old male, long time /x/phile and sanc lurker, few time poster, and a college student to-be in Virginia.

The Shadow People thread in Sorc is mine.

I've dabbled in lots of stuff but haven't really taken up a disciplined practice of anything. I've brushed with ghosts and spiritual entities since childhood. I've always had a strong interest in paranormal but never did anything with it until I stumbled upon a book on Qigong. I read it, was intrigued, tried it, and made a lot of headway with my sickliness. Been studying Alternative Medicine and Esoteric things like crazy since. I believe I've successfully used sigil magic on a few occasions, used energy manipulation somewhat successfully, and have had a few semi-lucid dreams. My family has casually used Astrology, Runes, and Tarot since I was a kid, it just never occurred to me there was anything "magic" about it. My summer project is to try and master Astral Projection.

I study stuff way more than I practice it, but my life's ambition is to either be a Quantum Physicist or Neurophysiologist and make connections between science and magic/spirituality, and hopefully be a part of the slow-growing movement to revolutionize humanity's ideas of life and even reality as they know it!

I try to be as open-minded about things as I possibly can, and spend a LOT of time introspecting. I'll happily discuss damn-near anything as long as people are interested and respectful about it.

No. 19215 - Rozen Priest - June 16th, 2011 - 1:20 AM

Ciao, I'm Rozen. I am an avid lurker of Sanc, and this is the first time I am posting out of anon. I am from naturally from Wisconsin USA, but move around a lot and currently live in Illinois. I am 19 years old, and am in-between semesters at my local college. I do not quite know what I want to do with my life yet, for I have a lot of things I would like to accomplish. (But never enough time!)

In the past I have been involved in various covens, metaphysical groups, and a paranormal investigation team. In my spare time I teach at an online metaphysical college. Also play a lot of Rift because I have horrible taste in games. Beyond that, I am learning how to play the harp, continually perfecting my Italian language skills, and am quite a decent novice fencer. Hoping to move forward with various martial arts next semester.

I am a hereditary witch by nature. I have a very religiously split home life as my father is a Christian pastor, and my mother is Pagan priestess. Then sibling #1 is Pentecostal, and sibling #2 is Agnostic. I am pretty decent in the psychic ability corner, but having just popped that open at age 17 I still have a lot of work to go. This is shown greatly through various clair-senses and spirit work. A few months into being 19 I was attuned with Reiki first degree. At age 18 I was ordained a minister through Universal Life Church, and at 19 I was ordained a Priestess through The Firefly House. I am working towards my High Priestess title, but have been very distracted due to everyday life stresses.

Annnd I can't think of anything else to say. Arrivederci~

No. 19235 - Blue - June 19th, 2011 - 11:39 PM

Sorry I'm late. I've been meaning to post in this thread for a while, but something always seems to come up when I think to read through this thread and I needed a bit to compose my thoughts on what to write here. I'm Blue, though I doubt that even needs to be said. You can call me Ngoc Nguyen, Vladimir Sanchez, Wuchen Lee, or Jamal X. Doesn't matter. They're all pseudonyms.

I'm 19 and about to be a sophomore in college. Major undecided, but I am considering Statistics and a minor in some field of science. I'm currently living in Los Angeles, so if anyone wants to meet up for /x/-related stuff, I guess we can meet up. I'm also a guy, so don't get your hopes up about anything if you do want to meet up.

I'm an Agnostic, so I acknowledge that I am and probably always will be intellectually deficient and try to be open-minded about things, but it is pretty hard. Of course, I'm not going to try to be open minded about things that are obviously bullshit, like that whole rapture fiasco from a few weeks back. I'm a bit skeptical about the magicks and sorcery and what-not, and I believe that it works via placebo, but it is pretty interesting and I'd like to see it being done in person.

I'm not sure when I started being interested in the paranormal, but I'm pretty sure that it happened a bit before my incident in Korea, where a shadow person tried to rape me(Posted my story on another thread somewhere.), because I was able to identify it as a shadow person. After the incident, which, quite frankly, should've been traumatizing(Maybe I don't feel so traumatized because I'm not sure if it actually happened.), my interest in the paranormal rekindled, which is why I'm here now.

As for my hobbies, I like music(Mostly listening to denpa, electro-pop/trance-pop, dubstep, darkwave, and breakcore nowadays, but mostly denpa.), japtoons(Mostly mecha, magical girl, and shows with plenty of cute going on.), and I recently started getting into comics(Mostly stuff by Marvel.). As you can see, I'm not a very 'outdoor person', but I would really like to get into hunting and urban exploring. It's just that I can't convince any of my friends to try them with me without them giving up or forgetting a week later.

I guess that's it for now.

>>19048

I used to love to post manga and comics, but I doubt I'll be doing any uploading for a while. I'm still getting used to just having the internet. Also, my interests have changed a bit. During my time away from the net, I rekindled my love for horror fiction, so I've been reading a lot of novels and short stories instead of manga and comics. For PnP I was introduced to AD&D, though it still interests me I have also developed an attachment to Shadowrun. I haven't played much of either game (though a number of videogames based on the properties) but I find novels and lore of those settings interesting. Magic aside, I find the lore and bestiaries the most interesting.

As for mysterious events, I've only had a couple that seem tied to the supernatural. The first is that night hag/sleep paralysis thing. It's been a few years since it happened but I still remember the rush of panic and fear that was tied to it pretty clearly. The other event was a leg energy thing where I seemed to somehow envision energy in my legs while walking to work (It was winter in the midwest) and that heating my legs against the cold I had been feeling. It only happened that one time though- even when attempting it on other ocassions.

One odd one was an unexplained panic attack that I'd had while in the car with my mom. We had been going somewhere and for no discernable reason I suddenly paniced. I was able to convince my mom to abort our travel plan and we went home. This was the only instance I've had of this happening till or since.

I also once had a day where iirc I was a bit out of it as I had a weird feeling of dejavu all day. It was like Id dreamed or remembered the same day that was happening. To be honest though- in hindsight I can't even be sure either day happened as I can't recall anything that stood out about it other than the feeling.

I also used to have something like 4 or 5 dreams that would happen somewhat frequently. They would often contain at least some element of something that I could recognize the source from, such as one that this rune gate thing that was in the SNES Eye of the Beholder. I figure it was just some kind of coincedence of repeated or similar dreams and being close enough to awake to remember parts of them fairly clearly.

I'm fairly skeptical about some things, not so much the idea that they could happen or be true- as not putting a lot of weight in something unless I've had some kind of personal exposure.

I have a friend that claims to be able to do some energy manipulation but Id just need a bit of personal exposure to drop some of the last shreds of doubt.

Something I forgot I was going to add-

I'm most familiar with some form of Christianity, though my exposure was while I was young and I have no idea which branch. Probably the biggest issue I have with it is the whole monotheism part of it. I lean more toward believing that if there were one there would be two. Meaning that I put more weight in the polytheism and multiple orders of different entities or what have you. I also don't quite understand some of the friction between different schools of belief. I figure that a given entity or diety could be worshiped or recognized under many names by different people (but still be the same thing). It would be like many different languages identifying the moon and the sun. Different words/names but the same thing.

Ugh, is there a way to edit your own posts? I also meant to include that I'm in the late 20's age range.

Nope, delete them and then rewrite them. That's about as much as you can do.
