Really, this place has never been what I'd call active, I took a couple month hiatus due to moving/life getting in the way but seems pretty empty. Also dual purpose of this thread, is there any other paranormal forum out there that sees more activity? (That is not 4chan)

I still visit here sometimes. It was so quiet though that I eventually cancelled it. We kind of strayed a little from the point of it imo. Sorry for being a jerkoff. If any ex-VAULT people are serious about a reunion, try working on horror music for movies or videogames, stuff like Eraserhead, Condemned, Amnesia, Tetsuo, Videodrome, Lovecraft-influenced media and so on. I'm big on the whole extreme horror thing (which kind of put a lot of people off)

In case anybody can give me some good ideas. I'm building a 3-d environment for class. It is the office of a private investegator, and I need some ideas for books that will be on a bookshelf. I'm looking for things that are on research on esoteric subjects, or titles that were refrenced by Lovecraft, whether real or fictional. It is based heavily on 'The Shadow Over Innsmouth' and takes place in that universe. Pic semi-related, crappy still of an earlier version.

Its almost what happens to me when I use too much ink on a paper, so I guess I kinda understand what you must have felt...Altough I really liked the atmosphere on your artwork, it quite of reminds o Dark Corners of The Earth! Graphics are awesome too!

It was time. I worked on it far too long and the concept was a bit tired to begin with. I even made a black and white version that I incorporated into my senior project. I've gotten a lot better since then so I could redo it in probably half the time, just time to move on I think.

Howdy guys. As you may or may not know, I'm a game design student. The game I'm working on just now has a distinctly /x/ish flavour to it, so I thought I'd let you guys in on it. You can find out more about it over at my site, http://www.hyparc.net.
In Apartmental, you play as a character trying to uncover and exorcise hidden supernatural entities that are infesting your apartment. To banish them, you have to enter the Disquiet Hallways, a series of dark, gloomy labyrinths; however, these entities are also stalking the hallways, and if they find you, they give chase, causing your sanity to take a hard hit every second they've got their eyes (or lack thereof) on you. If your sanity falls to zero, your character goes irrevocably insane, and the game ends.
I'm aiming to have a playable demo by September 2012, and I'll need playtesters around then as well, so let me know if you're interested either by leaving a message here, emailing me, or sending me a DM on Twitter. For the time being, I'd be happy to discuss more details about the game or answer any questions if you're interested. ;D

I appreciate the insight, cheers dude. :] And yeah, I've been through the process (and am continually going through the process) of asking "what makes this game fun?", "what are its USPs?" and everything - as I said, I'm a game design student, so my entire course is predicated on finding out what makes games fun. I'm still just a student, and I'll no doubt make mistakes with this project (and every project after it), but I'm not completely fresh to the field.
Software-wise, I'm using 3DS Max for environment art assets, Daz 3D for the base of the Infestation Entities, and Unity3D for the game engine itself, with scripting done in JavaScript (and/or C#). I'm making the models myself, but I'm only making a handful of my own textures.
Again, I'm not worried about the similarity to other games. It's something I've factored in to the process - with such little information about the game, let alone a playable demo, it's unavoidable at this stage that complaints of unoriginality will be made and comparisons will be drawn - the final game isn't as similar to SH/ED as you might expect, so I'm willing to shoulder that for the time being. At this...
So, since this incarnation of sanctuary was kind of tied in to the Secret World - has anyone got the game yet?
I've not got it myself, but I've been sneaking a peek while my boyfriend's been playing it, and I gotta say the writing at least is every /x/phile's wet dream - the dialogue is pretty good in that most of the characters feel like legit occultists rather than shoddy stock-character witches and wizards and bollocks like that. Gameplaywise it doesn't seem a great deal different from most other MMOs, but I can't say much about it since I've not had a real hands-on playthrough of it.

This only seems to matter for PVP grouping purposes and story differences. Illuminati is ruling in PVP though, so if you like winning, this will give you a leg up and help you obtain certain items faster.
eon8 is actually something that started out a few years ago as a mass panic due to a mysterious counter on the front page along with a map with a bunch of points marked red.
When the timer hit zero it was announced to be a social experiment, and now serves no purpose but their forums, which are essentially three or four people nonsensically trying to get others to join the dying website.

i've mainly been making electronic stuff, breakcore, Drum n Bass, downtempo. i have done hardly any ambient pieces since a while after VAULT went down. I've done a few experimental electronic stuff but that's about as close at it gets to anything ambient.

I'm having the same problem. I tried to register without realizing that my IP was dynamic, and now that I've got a static one, it still thinks my e-mail (and the name I want, but that's not nearly as big a problem) is taken.
