in the past is chief seattle, prince of stones reversed. chief seattle was one of the last voices of the native americans. reversed he represents despair, selfishness, lack of devotion and an out-of-touch feeling with reality, especially with physical (money stuff, and the body)
present is the nine of swords reversed, entitled cruelty. nine of swords upright is the end of a cycle but reversed, it hearkens back to the problems outlined in the eight. you have real problems but you have internalized them, making them intangible. your mind is manipulating yourself, therefore you experience cruel conditions. find faith, find something you can believe in, even as simple as tomorrow. overthinking has created a nightmare for you; determine a way to release these bad feelings creatively and be liberated by your mind.
future is aeon, more traditionally known as judgement. moving through painful periods of change; despite that, renewal and optimism persists. there is spontaneity! no longer do your past beliefs in limitation need to hold you back. you can see the world through new eyes. all things are...
I'm glad to see such enthousiasm. And it is past proper time for me to open this thread under my own name. Please see >>17520 for the types of reading I can offer. Please specify which type you would prefer.
The Oracle reading I can do up to 3 questions per person in succession. I can also do "general portrait". Please ask related questions in a single post, as it makes it easier for me.
The Tarot readings I'd ask to keep to one question at a time, as it is less familiar and thus requires more time/energy.

i would not mind at all if you opened a thread! turned my handle on to make it easier. i await your query, unless you would prefer a more general type reading. i have two decks; medieval cats, for more tangible questions and less intimidating answers, and the haindl tarot, which is a bit more abstract and serious. which would be more appropriate for you right now?
and i'm glad this place is still kickin' it, i will remember to frequent it from now on. took a break from the internets but i missed this spot.
How do you guys choose new decks to try? Is it the art? The tradition behind it? Does it have to a gift?
Asking mostly because I've been drooling over the first few images from the DreamDance Oracle. (image related)
While, at the same time, having been completely not interested in The Heart of Faerie Oracle, which is a companion/follow up deck to my main Fairies Oracle deck..

The premise is simple: comment here if you want a Tarot reading done. Please indicate whether you want a) a general overall life reading, b) a general reading about a certain life area (eg romance, academia, career stuff, magickal path, etc), or c) a reading about a specific scenario/answer to a specific question (in which case, mention said scenario or ask said question, please).
My purpose is a tad bit more complex, though. I'm going to be testing out my ability to read the Tarot accurately, as well as reading it accurately with the three decks I'm going to be using (Rider-Waite, Thoth, and Archetype decks). If you like, you can specify which deck I'll use, but if you don't, I'll pick one meself.
If I do a reading for you, I'd greatly appreciate some feedback on how accurate you felt it was; just post another comment here in the thread.
I'm having trouble getting to know my soul and intuition. I ended up in a strange spot of my life and don't know how I got there. Kind of like waking up on a see saw after a party type thing, in the most figurative point though. Not literally.
I thought it would be useful if those doing the readings were to introduces ourselves and what kind of deck/reading we use. On one hand to open discussion about specific deck and on the other, perhaps, to allow those looking for readings to pick someone whose style is compatible with what they are looking for.
Personally I have two main reading deck. The first (and my favorite) is the Brian Froud Faeries' Oracle (see image). I find it is a very versatile, very acute deck. However it does have it's quirks... it works better with "How" and "Why" questions, then with pure outcome or anything set in time. I have also issues reading it about third parties (X wants to know something about person Y).
My other deck is a Rider Waite structured deck. Better for traditional "fortune telling". It is a very upbeat deck, that I tend to read more on the positive side.

Becoming much more comfortable with my Druid Plant Oracle deck. The more I use it, the more I like it, it seems.
So, for readings, that one is going to be used probably anytime multiple questions are asked, as it is more direct and doesn't take an age to try and pick out of a ten card spread.
The true Tarot is symbolism; it speaks no other language and offers no other signs.
I aim to gather readings and related Tarot discussions in an easy to browse location. Readings requested from any one /x/phile and answered by any one reader. Or “group” readings of the kind that was attempted with TheSeventh in this tread >>207.
Other experiments, suggestions or tarot related “games”, of course, would be more then welcome an, in my opinion, interresting.

Hrm. Interesting.
I agree with some stuff, and disagree with others. Not sure about the future things, since I'm a BFA grad working on my portfolio, I feel like things are going slow right now but I'm not really losing zest for it. I'm very anxious to start my career. As for 3.....interesting....Are you referring to people I assume? Making them less aware? I view myself as very heavily armored in a spiritual sense, so I don't foresee any meaningful danger I don't usually deal with.
Definitely talking about people with number 3. It's just a general warning to watch what you say, and to whom. Just because you don't forsee it, doesn't mean it can't potentially happen.
It's also not like it's some big horrifying thing that might happen; just a general "things are what they are, but keep your wits about you, especially as things progress" kind of thing.

Is there a particular card or set of cards in the Tarot that you feel you particularly resonate with? If so, why do you resonate with that card? Do you use it as a significator in readings involving yourself? Have you ever felt, at one point in your life, that you were best represented by one card, but then later found yourself to be better represented by a different one? Do you resonate with one card in one deck, but a completely different one in another? Is there a particular suit in the Minor Arcana (if your deck of choice has one) that you resonate with? What about court cards you resonate with?

I don't do tarot readings but I feel oddly associated withe 0, the Fool. Mostly for obvious reasons. I feel like my live has taken more the turn of the 10 of Swords, due to the events of my life and constantly feeling like 'fate' is keeping me pinned down, unable to move, unable to resist.
From my limited exposure to tarot (primarily from card captor sakura and the SMT/Persona games) I think I'm most drawn to The Hangedman. I haven't had any kind of reading done or what have you, I just find the self-sacrifice for the benefit of others to reflect my interpretation of my behavior growing up. For example not asking for something desired or turning down the offer of something given. I had a weird anti-pride thing going for a while. Though in retrospect the damage to my self-esteem probably means I took it too far.
I have been working with Tarot for a few weeks now as of posting this, and I have come to a certain crossroads. I have a shortage of querents where I am now. The readings I do for myself (once a day, everyday for the last week and a half) have been consistent, and the few others I have done readings for seem to believe what I have told them is generally accurate, but I feel that I need to expand my horizons and so I come to you.
If you would like a reading post below, general or specific area of your life and specify what area if applicable. I am currently using a deck which makes use of the rider-waite symbolism and structure. Don't shy away because I am new, so far this seems to come very easy to me and none of the readings I have done yet have been off.

At the moment, neither. Things have popped up that have made life a bit stressed, and I know that reading in an agitated state can mess with the results. I will click the join thing after things have cooled down.

The aim of this project is to test, with an attitude of play/fun, whether we can predict future events that are broadcast by selected news sources on the week beginning Monday, January 17th, 2011.
1) Pick a news website, station, newspaper or channel.
2) Perform a divination, as specific as you can, for the news that will be delivered starting on Monday 17th.
3) Post the name of the station/channel you will be using here, as well as the results of this divination, in this thread, prior to Monday 17th - if you can do a day-by-day breakdown detailing what will happen on each day, all the better!
3) As the week progresses, take note of the news for that week, and see how it matches up with your predictions. You can post your results each day as the news happens, or else leave it til Sunday 23rd.
4) When posting your results, be as objective as possible, detailing possible links/matches as well as predictions that were completely off.
5) On the close of each day, and at the end of Sunday, 23rd, discuss your results with one another.
Ooooft. My record for Sunday's apparently disappeared, but suffice it to say there was no strong correlation between the reading for the 23rd and the BBC Scotland website. "My sadness to the moon."
Ah well, it was fun to get an experiment going, regardless of the overall results - it felt good just throwing out some "everyday occult" stuff along with the Big Important Magick stuff. Perhaps this experiment might act as fuel for the bonfire of the rational method, providing an example of where Tarot doesn't go right? But then, it does involve interpretation and some pretty heavy isomorphism, so perhaps it's too subjective a practice to actually demonstrate its effectiveness. Or perhaps that's Tarot Apologism!

The reason I didn't jump into this pretty much what you've just said. I was, personally, never able to get a good reading on too broad a subject... I need a connection of sort for the meanings to emerge.
