The Rules of Sanctuary - Ignorance of the rules will not protect you from them

The following are The Rules of Sanctuary.

They have been formed from both early intentions and ongoing changes in the opinion of the Management. They apply to and are enforced by all users, excepting the Management. They exist as a guideline to improve your chances of not offending the community nor the Management, though they do not limit the rights of the Management to take action at their own discretion.

You might also wish to jump to the FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1 - Don't act like a /b/tard

The main reason Sanctuary exists.

We don't condone the use of unrelated/arbitrary memes here. We do not allow spamming or nonsensical posts because they make the board a mess and it affects the tone of the environment. We don't care if you ARE a /b/tard, only that you leave it at the door. This also means not using meme images in your posts. This is not 4chan.

2 - Post with Respect

Be respectful to the other posters. If you cannot acknowledge another person's reality, you don't have a proper basis for arguing their point. You demonstrate disinterest by NOT participating in a thread.

Posters seen making replies only to insult the thread maker or 'kill the thread' will suffer the consequences.

3 - Don't feed the trolls

Demonstrating that you are affected by trolling embarrasses you and it embarrasses us. We don't need anyone raising the post count needlessly by heckling. Just report the thread and leave it to the Management.

4 - Facilitate Management Transparency

The Management doesn't answer to limitations. They will take action or they will ignore at their own discretion. You do not have the right to derail topics just to acknowledge the changes or lack of changes they make. It will only earn you demerits. If you have a problem, ask The Senate about it.

5 - Don't Abuse The Democracy

If we catch users abusing the democratic features of this site, they will be banned. We will be watching who votes and how they vote. For democracy to work, it must be uncompromised by coalitions or people attempting to control Sanctuary through alliances.

6 - No Anonymous Linking

Don't post links without proper explanation of what is on the other side. More importantly, don't post a link if you didn't personally review it and deem it safe for fellow posters. Failure to do so will lead to a ban.

7 - No Bumping

Bumping is not allowed on this board for any reason. Do not bump your own threads or the threads of others demanding more. If you feel the content is worth discussing, then discuss it.

8 - Sage Responsibly

On Sanctuary, saging is not used to show people your unhappiness with the content. If you are unhappy with content, ignore it.

9 - Keep it Work Safe

People have to feel comfortable visiting this site from anywhere in front of anyone. If at anytime that rule is betrayed, the Management may be forced to take action against a thread.

10 - Read the Rules

One of the most important rules is to make sure you read all of the rules. Those without the patience to be thorough or involved in the community are obviously not contributing to it. Because of this, we feel no remorse for people who find themselves banned because they broke a rule they weren't aware of.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions.

This site is the 5th version of Sanctuary, preceded by Akashic Sanctuary, Bastion Alpha, Xibalba Sanctuary, and /x/ Sanctuary before that. Though initially intended as a safehouse for Wiki Users of /x/enopedia, Sanctuary managed to take on a life of its own when /x/ was under constant raid by /b/ and outside users happened across the link in the Wiki.

Bastion itself is in its 6th overhaul, although the engine itself is a layered development effort. We have expanded the use of Bastion for use in other sites in order to get outside opinions of how to better the community.

Xibalba Sanctuary was created following a database corruption and to justify moving the community, an ARG and new Skin was created to accomodate the transition dubbed the Exodus.

How do I become a Mod?

Mods are sought out and chosen exclusively by the Management. Any requests or nominations for such privileges are an automatic disqualifier. Since there is a system being worked out to have this site be democratically moderated, being a moderator is rather pointless.

How do I format text?

We support some BBCode in addition to custom stuff we've added.

Link: [gb="URL"]DESCRIPTION OF LINK HERE[/gb]
Bold: [b]BOLD[/b]
Italics: [i]ITALICS[/i]
Underline: [u]UNDERLINE[/u]

Youtube: [youtube]MUXKQl3dgbg[/youtube] *Only works in replies.

Why do thread images disappear?

If you used a meme image or something silly that affects the overall atmosphere of Sanctuary, the Management may choose to remove the image or the post entirely. Images must always be work safe.

How do I tripcode?

In the name box type YourUserName#RandomPassword

For example: xphile#forthelulz

That's an example of an insecure tripcode.

Use double pounds to make it secure: xphile##forthelulz

Explain the forming of Groups and Leadership?

Prelucid gets every personal request to form a group. Once accepted, you are entered in and set as the Group leader.

As Leader, you can accept or reject members. You can boot members. You can also suggest titles for them that they can accept or reject.

Being in a group allows Thread posting privileges in that group. Other users can reply.

It's intended to solidify people into purpose or interest groups to promote a topic. People shouldn't join unless they want to contribute. There's no privilege given other than that and requested titles.

How do I sage/noko?

You can't. Sage/Noko has currently been removed with the removal of e-mail display. We feel saging has been abused too much in the past.
