Adding videos

Youtube videos can be added with <youtube>. Example: <youtube>t3BgdU3HxGI</youtube>.

Adding images

To include a file in a page, use a link in one of the following forms:

  • [[File:File.jpg]] to use the full version of the file
  • [[File:File.png|200px|thumb|left|alt text]] to use a 200 pixel wide rendition in a box in the left margin with 'alt text' as description

You have to define it as a thumb if you want the alternate text to be seen below the picture.

See Special:Upload to upload images. PLEASE GIVE YOUR IMAGES DESCRIPTIVE FILENAMES!!!!

Links

External

Remember to add http:// before the link. Otherwise the software will think it's an internal link.

  • [http://www.google.com/] will look like this: [1]
  • [http://www.google.com/ Google] will look like this: Google
  • http://www.google.com/ will look like this: http://www.google.com/

Article Linking

Category Linking Use Categories to automatically file pages under their respective Category page(s).

Lists

* An asterisk (*) as the first letter on a line produces a bulleted list. Like this:

# An octothorpe (or "pound sign" or "number sign") as the first letter of a line will produce a numbered list.

  1. Good for... numbering things!
  2. Number advances automatically each line.
  3. Just make sure there isn't an empty line between your numbered lists, otherwise it will become a new list and reset to 1.

Headers

Pages are usually divided into sections, such as this one begins with a level 1 "Cheatsheet" header after the intro sentence. This is done by enclosing the header name in a pair of equal signs.

= Cheatsheet =

Stacking more equal signs together will produce smaller headers that are meant to be nested within other headers. For instance, the text you are reading is under the level 3 header "Headers" which is under the level 1 header "Cheatsheet".

Etiquette

Talk pages

  • Sign your posts! Please add your signature when posting on a talk or discussion page. You can add your signature by adding four tildes at the end of your text: ~~~~
  • Indentation: Starting a line with a colon will left-indent your post, which will make it easier to see who you are replying to on a talk page. You may stack the colons for greater levels of indentation.

Refrain from subjectivity

Try to maintain a Neutral Point-of-View. Don't let your negative emotions leak too much into the article. Using discriminative speech, such as calling someone retard or idiot, helps no one and destroys the credibility of the article.

Templates

Stub

A stub is a small page that needs to be fleshed out.

You can designate an article as a stub by including the text {{stub}} at the bottom of the page.
